What if success isn’t determined by what you do, but instead by who you are? Today, I’ll discuss an important formula for business owners to achieve what they want without necessarily doing more.

How many emails or phone calls do you have to send to be a millionaire?

This may sound like a ridiculous question or the start of a joke, but these are activities that business owners spend most of their time on with the hopes that it will bring them closer to their goals.

As you can guess, there is no number of calls, meetings, or emails that you can make that will make you a millionaire or a successful business owner.

You have to become that person by improving the skills needed to become that person and by creating a mindset that attracts the things you’d like to achieve.

When you hear stories of the world’s greatest business success stories, rarely do you hear that these entrepreneurs achieved it by sticking to the status quo.

They are innovative in their product conception and delivery, receptive to feedback, tenacious, and resilient. As a result, they created strong businesses that can run without them.

Jim Rohn, one of the world’s most influential entrepreneurs and motivational speakers, says, “Never wish your life were easier – Wish that YOU were better.”

We can’t control what happens to us in this life. But, we can control our response and how we handle it. The more we educate ourselves, strengthen our mentality and build a community to rely on the more capable we are of handling difficult situations in the business.

He also goes on “Work harder on yourself than you do on your job…”, implying the importance of dedicating time to self-improvement and personal development in our professional careers.

This doesn’t mean the work we do for the business isn’t important –  and it has to get done.

But when things don’t go the way you expect in the business, or you face disappointment, this work isn’t going to solve the problem the business is having. YOU have to solve them otherwise you and the business will crumble.

Thus, it is important to become a better business owner instead of only trying to build a better business.

We have a formula we coach our clients through to illustrate this: BE x DO = HAVE. I explain it more in this video. You don’t want to miss out on the information in this video because it shows the huge multiplying effect of personal development in addition to doing the right things. Watch this video for a better explanation of the formula and how to apply it to your business?
